Weir: Partnership can thrive
Ex-Everton and Rangers captain David Weir believes new signing Steven Naismith will be a perfect fit with forward Nikica Jelavic.
The pair struck up a good partnership at Ibrox together with the Scotland international playing just off Jelavic and Weir thinks they can recreate that success with the Toffees.
Just over five months after Jelavic made the trip south Naismith has joined him on a free transfer, signing a four-year deal after terminating his contract with the soon-to-be-liquidated Rangers having rejected the chance to move over to the newco club.
Weir, now a coach at Everton, said: "When they played together they did very well and they can combine. But Steven can play in a number of positions and can contribute in different areas.
"He has a lot of strings to his bow and the fact he can play with Nikica is a benefit also. I think they can look forward to the addition of a good player to the squad," he told evertonTV.
