Tisdale hails Grecians character
Paul Tisdale felt his side produced the sort of response he expected after their opening day defeat with a 2-1 victory over Aldershot.
Having seen Jamie Cureton's opener cancelled out just two minutes later by Craig Reid's effort, Tisdale was delighted with the Grecians' winner from a fluid second-half counter-attack that resulted in Cureton's second.
"The response was as I imagined," said Tisdale. We were very determined but a little contained and we didn't play with the freedom a win on Saturday would have perhaps given us.
"But you have to respond to events and after Saturday we were very damaged after a result none of us expected and we felt in our minds we wanted to keep the game as tight as possible and that's what we did.
"I thought Tommy Doherty was the pick of our players in the first half and it would have been hard to argue with bringing him in with the way he got to the ball. He really showed a tough edge.
"Tommy had a sore shoulder, but he told me he was fit and the game is played in the mind and if you are that positive it counts for a lot."
