Frenchman deal sorted

Falkirk, 13:53, December 9, 2009 ,

Falkirk have finally agreed a deal to sign French midfielder Toufik Zerara on an initial one-month contract.

The 23-year-old, who has been with the Bairns for the past month, finally received international clearance from United Arab Emirates to pen a deal with the SPL side.
The former France Under-20 international's contract was not renewed by UAE side Al Dhafra, who he joined after spells with French outfit Sochaux and Belgian side Germinal Beerschot.
Bairns boss Eddie May was delighted the deal was now official and admitted he could extend his stay beyond the original month if he does well.
He told the club's official website: "This short-term agreement gives me the opportunity to assess Toufik further and decide whether or not to keep him at the club for a longer period.
"He has good defensive qualities in midfield and has impressed both the staff and the players with his training performances."
The Zerara deal follows hot on the heels of Tuesday's news that former Portsmouth and West Brom trainee Jack Compton will join the club in the New Year after sealing a pre-contract agreement at the Falkirk Stadium.
