Fernando Alonso has warned the rest of Formula 1 Ferrari plan to introduce some "important updates" for the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Italian team has made a stuttering start to the campaign, despite Fernando Alonso winning the Malaysian Grand Prix, and have been testing out a number of tweaks they have made to the car in Mugello this week. The results appeared to make a difference with Alonso topping the first session in Spain and finishing a competitive third on the final day of testing. The two-time world champion has admitted the improvements to his Ferrari have got to make an immediate impact if he and team mate Felipe Massa are to challenge at the front of the grid. The Spaniard went on to say he thought his team would be making a number of big changes before the Formula 1 bandwagon arrived in Barcelona for the next Grand Prix on May 13. "The feeling I have after the test is a positive one," he said. "We have introduced a few small, and I stress that word, aerodynamic updates, that have produced the response we were expecting and that is the most positive news, which means I am confident for the future, in the short and the long term."
