Alonso confident of Ferrari dominance

Formula 1, 14:30, February 21, 2010 ,

Fernando Alonso says Ferrari will be contenders for the F1 title in 2010 and claims his current car is the best he has ever driven.

The double world champion was 1.5 seconds slower than McLaren in testing in Jerez last week with Jenson Button clocking the fastest time heading into the final round of testing in Barcelona next week.
With Red Bull, Renault and Mercedes also looking impressive Formula One is set to be hotly contested yet again this year.
Alonso, who switched from Renault to Ferrari at the end of last season, believes despite the other contenders his team will still be the ones to beat this year.
"This is the best car I've ever had," said the 28-year-old.
"Red Bull, McLaren and Renault have been very quick and have shown their cards, while we are still hiding ours.
"We will analyse the data, but we are very optimistic.
"If I were in a different team I would be looking at Ferrari because everything is going really well.
"Maybe where Ferrari has to improve is the short runs with little fuel onboard."
