Bernie Ecclestone has slammed claims that he is joking over plans for a London Grand Prix, saying 'we are getting on with it'.
The Formula One supremo has always expressed a desire to bring the sport to the streets of London and last month unveiled a proposed 5.1km circuit taking in sights including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Trafalgar Square.
And, while it has been billed in some quarters as a publicity stunt, Ecclestone has come out to stress that he is deadly serious about the London Grand Prix plans with funding for it possibly coming from F1.
"We are getting on with it," he told the Guardian. "It is no joke, 100% completely no joke.
"With the way things are, maybe we would front it and put the money up for it," he added.
"If we got the okay and everything was fine, I think we could do that."
