Prodrive put forward F1 entry

Formula 1, 13:44, May 29, 2009 ,

British motorsport firm Prodrive are the latest team to submit an entry into next season's Formula 1 championship.

Former BAR boss David Richards is chairman of the new team, who have joined US F1, Spain's Campos Racing and Litespeed GP on the list to join the world's most prestigious motorsport competition.
The FIA have been in ongoing negotiations to agree a budget cap of around £40m with the 10 existing teams, and the proposals appear to have had the desired affect of encouraging new teams into the sport.
Richards feels that Prodrive could be a real force in F1 and thanked those who have helped the team put together their entry bid.
"We are confident that we now have the opportunity to be both commercially viable and competitive," he said.
"We are very appreciative of the support we have been given in putting together our entry, not least by both the FIA and FOM.
"With the help of Dar Capital in raising the finance, coupled with our understanding of the latest proposals to assist new teams, we now feel the conditions are right to formally request the FIA for an entry."
