Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn has backed Nico Rosberg to mount a serious challenge for the drivers' championship title.
Rosberg currently trails pace-setter Lewis Hamilton by 21 points and could only manage a sixth-placed finish at the recent Canadian Grand Prix.
But Braun is backing the German driver to hit winning form during the latter stages of the season and force his way into contention for top spot, starting with this weekend's European Grand Prix in Valencia.
"Nico's driving very well, the car's extremely competitive and Nico's one win away from leading the world championship," said Braun, whose Mercedes team trail Red Bull by 31 points in the constructors' standings.
"We just have to fight with everything we have to achieve the best result we can and see what evolves. But there's no reason why not."
Rosberg won the first race in his six-season career as a Formula 1 driver at the Chinese Grand Prix earlier this year, though he has struggled to hit those same heights on a consistent basis.
