Former Ferrari and Lotus racer Mika Salo believes Kimi Raikkonen has a great chance to claim the F1 Championship this season.
Raikkonen showed how far Lotus have come this season, as the Finn finished in second place at the Bahrain Grand Prix, with Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel claiming his first chequered flag of the 2012 campaign.
Lotus team-mate Romain Grosjean also enjoyed a fine race in his last outing, as the Swiss driver finished in third place, to make it a fine meeting for the Enstone outfit last weekend.
Both Raikkonen and Grosjean will be preparing for the next race of the season, with teams set for the Spanish Grand Prix on May 13.
Salo has been impressed with the progress made by Lotus this term and believes Raikkonen has a decent chance of pushing the likes of Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button all the way for the title.
He told Speed TV: "The most consistent team has been Lotus. They've been fast at every circuit so far. In that sense, Kimi's situation looks very good.
"I would not exclude it at all that he will be fighting at the very end of the Championship, if Lotus is able to maintain the pace of development."
