Schuey after No 8
Formula 1, 09:59, December 24, 2009 ,
Michael Schumacher has made it clear he will be challenging for the world title next year after confirming his return to Formula 1.
The 40-year-old won seven world titles during an illustrious career that came to a conclusion at the end of the 2006 season.
However after three years away from the racing circuit, the German legend announced his intention to race for Mercedes, the renamed Brawn GP team, in 2010.
An attempted comeback in the 2009 season was aborted due to a neck injury, but the talented driver has overcome his problems and will race next season. And Schumacher stressed that he will not be returning to the sport just to make up the numbers.
"I have won the title seven times and the team won both titles last year, so what do you expect," he said. "Now Mercedes are team owners you cannot expect anything else other than the world title. That is what we aim for but we have to deliver and that is our job.
"Honestly, I can't wait until 1 February, when we will officially run the car."
