Michael Schumacher insists that he is 'very confident' of returning to the top of the podium at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion has hardly set the sport alight since his return to the sport in 2010, while he has picked up just two points this season following 10th-placed finishes in Malaysia and Bahrain. However, the German ace proved to the doubters that he is perhaps not finished just yet after clocking the fastest time in qualifying, only to be denied pole due to an earlier penalty, in Monaco - a race in which his team-mate Nico Rosberg finished second. Schumacher was denied points last time out by a mechanical problem but there is the suggestion that the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve will suit the Mercedes more - and that 'Schumi' is just the man to exploit any advantage having won this race seven times before. "I'm very confident," Schumacher said. "On this one, I mean, if you come back in time from the start to now, probably that is the closest that we can be of having a good result this week."
