Trulli believes in Button
Formula 1, 11:21, January 18, 2010 ,
Lotus F1 driver Jarno Trulli believes Jenson Button will be able to hold his own against McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Button has made the switch to his new team to join the 2008 champion after winning the Formula 1 world title with Brawn in 2009.
The 29-year-old has been criticised in some sections of the media, who feel that he will become a one-season wonder, with Hamilton expected to dominate the team and challenge for the title again in 2010.
But Trulli, a former Renault team-mate of Button, feels that last year's title winner will not be overshadowed by his compatriot as he looks to defend his crown.
"I can't see Jenson being blown away by Lewis," Trulli, he told BBC Sport. "Jenson deserves to be world champion and it'll be a nice battle at McLaren.
"Jenson is a great guy and he will get on well with Lewis. I've been reading stuff left and right saying he will be blown away by Lewis but at the end of the day only the track will tell."
