Sebastian Vettel has ripped up the form book by securing his first pole position of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The reigning double world champion has struggled in the early part of the season, as have Red Bull, but he claimed his podium finish of the year in China last time out and followed it up with pole for Sunday's race.
The German achieved an astonishing 15 poles last season but, until Bahrain, had been out-qualified by team-mate Mark Webber.
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton will start alongside Vettel on the front-row, ahead of Webber and Jenson Button who finished third and fourth respectively.
Mercedes' Nico Rosberg did not match his practice pace and could only manage fifth, while Toro Rosso's Daniel Ricciardo surprised everyone by finishing sixth-fastest, ahead of Lotus' Romain Grosjean and Sauber's Sergio Perez.
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Force India's Paul di Resta will start in ninth and 10th respectively, with Kimi Raikkonen only able to finish 11th while seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will start from 17th.
