Vettel secures British GP win

Formula 1, 14:57, June 21, 2009 ,

Sebastian Vettel has won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone with his Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber finishing in second place.

The German started the race on pole position and managed to come out on top after the 60 laps, while Webber managed to overtake Brawn's Rubens Barrichello after the first pit stops on lap 20 to take the runner-up spot and boost Red Bull's constructor's championship hopes.
Britain's championship leader Jenson Button had to settle for a sixth-placed finish and was not on the podium for the first time this season. However he still holds a healthy championship lead of 23 points over Barrichello, with Vettel two further points adrift and 3.5 ahead of Webber.
Last year's winner Lewis Hamilton could only manage a disappointing 16th place as he complained his McLaren had 'no grip'.
Meanwhile Felipe Massa's Ferrari was fourth after winning a battle with Nico Rosberg's Williams. Behind Button, Toyota's Jarno Trulli and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen took the final points positions in seventh and eighth.
