Fulham have made a £1.6million offer to take Vitesse Arnhem left-back Alexander Buttner to Craven Cottage, according to Dutch reports.

Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander claims Cottagers boss Martin Jol is keen on the 23-year-old stopper having seen him progress in the Eredivisie when he was in charge of Arnhem's rivals Ajax. And, while the likes of Werder Bremen and Shakhtar Donetsk are thought to be interested in making a move for Buttner, it appears Jol is ready to test the water with an offer of 2 million euros. Buttner, who has made over 100 appearances for Arnhem since coming through the youth academy and making his first-team debut in 2008, will be out of contract in 12 months. Therefore, Jol will hope they accept a sizeable fee now as opposed to risk losing him on a Bosman free transfer next summer if he fails to pen fresh terms at the GelreDome.
