Cottage call for Serie A hitman
Fulham, 11:14, June 22, 2009 ,
Inter Milan striker Robert Acquefresca has emerged as a potential target for a season-long loan at Fulham next season.
The 21-year-old striker, who scored for the Italian under-21s against Sweden on Friday in front of watching Fulham scouts, claims he was called by Roy Hodgson to see if he would be interested in a move to Craven Cottage.
"Fulham called me on the phone," Acquafresca said in the Daily Star Sunday. "Each offer must be considered. I could also try to go abroad, as some other players have done."
Hodgson has good contacts at the Milan giants from his time there as coach and his friendship with president Massimo Moratti could pull a few strings in the deal.
West Ham are also interested as Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola attempts to lure a couple of the Italian Under-21s who he used to coach to London but Fulham have the edge in that they can also offer Europa League football.
Acquafresca spent last season on loan at Cagliari, scoring 14 goals.
