Cottagers ace eyes progress
Fulham, 12:47, June 6, 2009 ,
Dickson Etuhu is looking for Fulham to spend big money this summer in order for the club to build on this past season's success.
The Nigeria international midfielder ended the campaign as an integral part of Roy Hodgson's side which secured a place in the Europa League spot courtesy of a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League. The successful season came on the back of the Cottagers' battle for top-flight survival the year before, which was only achieved on the final day of the 2007/08 term.
Etuhu is hopeful that Hodgson will get the funds to bring in around six players he feels are required to help Fulham progress into the Premier League's top six and enjoy a good run in the Europa League.
He said: "We need to add a few more quality players to the team though. That will also get the competition for places going, then we'll be fine.
"We need five or six players, but that's up to the manager.
"I love playing for club and country. This is a new season for me. I was injured for a long time. I'm still fresh, so I'm not even thinking about burn-out. Fulham fans haven't seen the best of me yet."
Alternatively punters who feel Fulham's good season was a flash-in-the-pan can use a free bet and tip them to struggle with the demands of domestic and European football and end up back in a relegation battle next season.
