Fulham in quartet transfer battle

Fulham, 12:48, June 23, 2009 ,

Fulham are in a battle with Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen, who has been told he can leave Barcelona.

The Icelandic international has long been expected to move from the Catalan giants but the Champions League winners have now confirmed that he can go and they would be willing to accept £4m for his services.
The Cottagers, Everton and Villa can offer European football to the former Bolton man, although West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola is an old friend of the player from their days at Chelsea.
The fact that Gudjohnsen has enjoyed previous successful spells in the Premier League, makes him an attractive proposition to English clubs and Roy Hodgson will feel his experience will also aid Fulham's Europa League campaign.
