Fulham's failed Canary swoop
Fulham, 10:43, February 11, 2009 ,
Norwich midfielder Sammy Clingan has revealed that he was the subject of a failed transfer bid by Fulham during January.
The Northern Ireland international has been in impressive form for the Canaries this season and had caught the eye of Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson, who failed in his bid to try and persuade the Canaries to part with Clingan during the transfer window.
The 25-year-old says that despite harbouring ambitions to play in the Premier League he was not frustrated by Norwich's decision to keep him at Carrow Road.
"I take it as a huge compliment that Norwich want to keep me and I respect the decision to turn Fulham down," Clingan told the Belfast Telegraph.
"It's my dream to play in the Premier League and I really want to achieve that ambition.
"But if Norwich aren't happy to sell then they were quite entitled to say 'no' to Fulham."
