Hodgson reveals Zamora's pain
Fulham, 14:26, February 5, 2009 ,
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has revealed the anguish striker Bobby Zamora is going through as his goal drought continues.
Zamora joined the cottagers in the summer as part of a £6.3million deal along with John Pantsil but so far has failed to live up to his price tag.
In 18 appearances for the West London side Zamora has found the net just once and is in danger of losing his place to Erik Nevland, who replaced Zamora in the 3-1 victory over Portsmouth and scored a brace.
Hodgson has insisted he has faith in Zamora to turn things around and regain his form although he admits that his player is suffering from a lack of confidence.
He told the London Informer: "He's beating himself up out there, 'I'm tired and not myself' is what he told us after he came off, but we have to tell him we still believe in him.
"He knows how much we counted on him to be a star - and it's hurting him he hasn't been able to convince the fans and show what a good player he is. He hasn't scored the goals and that's bothering him."
