Furyk hangs on in Florida

Jim Furyk was pleased to end a two-and-a-half-year wait with a one-shot victory in the Transitions Championship in Florida.

The 39-year-old carded a final-round 69 to finish on 13-under-par - one shot ahead of Korea's K J Choi in second. Bubba Watson's 68 ensured he finished in third place, while Nick Watney finished with a 67 to take fourth on -9, one shot ahead of South Africa's Retief Goosen.
The final round was delayed by nearly four hours due to a thunderstorm but it did not seem to affect Furyk, whose two-under-par final round on the Copperhead course at Palm Harbor's Innisbrook Resort was good enough to hold off Choi, who carded four birdies in five holes from the second.
The US Ryder Cup star responded with birdies of his own at the eighth, 10th and 12th and admitted his relief at finally getting over the line after some close calls over the past couple of seasons.
"It's not really a monkey off my back from a perspective of 'boy, I can't wait to not answer that question (when will he win) again'.
"It's just that I want to go out and win a golf tournament. That's what we play golf for. That's what I practise hard for - and I haven't been able to do that in two and a half years.
"You want to kind of reap your reward at the end, but this game will try your patience.
"I've had quite a few opportunities to win and sometimes I've hit poor shots or I've played poorly. There's other times like the Memorial last year where I cleared everyone in the field and got beat by Tiger.
"I feel like my confidence is growing and building and it may not be exactly where I want it or on top of the world, but I feel like I'm climbing back up the mountain."
England's Luke Donald finished on -7, one shot better than Irishman Padraig Harrington, whose challenge fell away after third and fourth rounds of 72.
