Hawaiian out to spring a surprise
Golf, 13:52, July 25, 2010 ,
Hawaiian golfer Dean Wilson leads the field going into today's final round with a four-shot lead at the Canadian Open.
Wilson, whose only PGA win came four years ago at the International, shot a 65 on Saturday on a rain affected third day.
The 40-year-old journeyman, who was given an exemption by the sponsors to play the PGA Tour event, made the most of the soft conditions caused by the storms.
South African Tim Clark and American Bob Estes are both four shots off the pace, but it was Sweden's Carl Pettersson who stole the show on Saturday, shooting a majestic 60. It was the lowest score in the event since its foundation in 1904 and put Pettersson also four shots off the lead.
Pettersson almost registered a 59 but for his birdie putt on the final hole rolled agonisingly past the hole.
