McDowell plans to take it easy

Graeme McDowell has announced he is taking some time off from golf in order to recharge his batteries after a hectic couple of months.

The Northern Irish golfer won his maiden major title at the US Open at Pebble Beach in June and then also competed at the Open Championship last weekend.
McDowell has admitted his preparations for St Andrews were not as good as they should have been and he is now taking a week off in order to be stronger for the final major of the season, the USPGA Championship.
He is scheduled to return to the Irish Open before heading off to play the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the USPGA Championship at Whistling Straits from August 12-15.
McDowell said: "I'm not going to do much this week, lay low and maybe hit the odd ball at Portrush but I've a lot of rest planned to recharge the batteries.
"The Open was maybe a week too soon. I could have probably done with using those two weeks after Pebble a bit more wisely but you want to celebrate and enjoy yourself.
"I'm very much looking forward to the Irish Open at Killarney and then moving on to Firestone and then the US PGA."
