Rory McIlroy insists his focus on finishing the season well to win the Race to Dubai for the first time.
The Northern Irishman has enjoyed another fantastic year, winning his second major at the US PGA Championship on his way to claiming the money list title on the US Tour as well as climbing to the number one spot in the world rankings.
The Holywood-born star also enjoyed another Ryder Cup win but now he is focused on securing the European number one spot to round off a fantastic 12 months.
He has twice finished second - to Lee Westwood in 2009 and Luke Donald in 2011 - but is looking to go one better and has the advantage going into the climax of the season.
"The big goal is just to keep my level (of play) up and try to win the Race to Dubai," McIlroy said. "I have a bit of a lead at the minute.
"I have come close twice before and if I can win it this time it would be a great way to cap off a great season."
McIlroy, who is taking part in the Turkey Airlines World Golf Final starting on Tuesday, is £346,000 ahead of Justin Rose - also playing in Turkey - and another £276,000 clear of Branden Grace - who climbed to third with his fifth win of the season on Sunday.
