No McCarthy deal for Swansea
Hamilton Academical, 16:02, May 27, 2009 ,
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has ruled out a big-money summer move for Hamilton's in-demand starlet James McCarthy.
McCarthy has attracted plenty of attention in the past few weeks with several top English sides said to be keen on signing the 18-year-old, who has enjoyed an impressive season in the SPL.
Championship outfit Swansea were also linked and there was talk of a £4million bid from Martinez, but the Spanish boss has completely dismissed the claims and insists they cannot afford to spend that amount on one player.
"It would be fantastic if we could pay £4m for a player and I hope one day we will be able to put bids like that in," Martinez told the South Wales Evening Post.
"But right now James McCarthy would be an impossible task for us financially."
