Reid gives midfielder the boot
Hamilton Academical, 15:00, December 2, 2009 ,
Hamilton boss Billy Reid has revealed that the club have released midfielder Gary Mason after he failed to break into the first team.
The Accies manager brought Mason to the club in August and signed him on a short-term deal until the end of the year to make up the numbers in his depleted squad.
The former Dunfermline man made five league starts for Hamilton but has been deemed surplus to requirements now at New Douglas Park.
"Gary was brought in so we could have a look at him," explained Reid. "It suited him as he was also looking for a club.
"(Alex) Neil was also out injured at the time and we were short of bodies in the middle of the park.
"Gary did a good job and is a top professional but he was getting frustrated. He wasn't getting many chances and we didn't want to stand in his way.
"He's a very fit guy and I'm sure he will do someone else a turn."
