Cooper satisfied with point

Hartlepool manager Neale Cooper was pleased with his side's improved performance in the 1-1 draw at Tranmere.

Pools suffered a disappointing defeat to struggling Chesterfield last time out but battled for a point against a rejuvenated Rovers outfit.
Skipper John Welsh fired the Merseysiders in front from a Lucas Akins cross in the 40th minute only for Antony Sweeney to equalise in the 69th minute with a good finish after a neat passing move.
"It was a scrappy first half but there was a vast improvement for the second half and we could easily have won", said Cooper. "Tranmere showed more composure than us. We needed to be sharper and quicker on the ball. But when we strung four passes together we ended up with a goal".
Tranmere finished with 10 men after the sending-off of keeper Owain Fon Williams in the 71st minute for a trip on Ryan Noble.
"I thought it was a penalty but it was a funny one really and the official chose to give the free-kick just outside the box. Neil Austin was unlucky to hit a post with the subsequent kick", said Cooper. "After last week's disappointment the effort put in was great. We were missing some players but those that came in did well".
