Benjelloun out to break Old Firm strangehold
Hibernian, 12:55, October 19, 2009 ,
Striker Abdessalam Benjelloun is confident that Hibernian can break the Old Firm's monopoly and secure second spot in the SPL.
The Moroccan international scored the goal which handed his side the win against Kilmarnock at Easter Road on Saturday to put Hibs in third position and just one point behind Celtic and two off leaders Rangers.
Benjelloun is looking for Hibs to go for the win at Ibrox on Saturday which would put them top of the table as Celtic are not in action until Sunday.
"I think this year Rangers and Celtic and all the teams are similar so I think everyone can win and lose," he said.
"It's not the same as before when the Old Firm were far away from the other clubs. I think this year we have a chance to be second or maybe third."
On the club's aspirations this season, he added: "I don't want to say champions but maybe second or third.
"Celtic drew which was good and Rangers won but we have a chance to go and beat them because, as I said, the level is the same.
"When Rangers are at home or away, they can lose.
"I think we have good players to play very good football."
