Boss makes plea to youngsters

Hibs boss John Hughes has called on more of his club's youngsters to emulate rising star David Wotherspoon this season.

Wotherspoon's impressive displays for Hughes' side have recently earned him a call up to the Scotland Under-21 squad, and Hughes has been delighted with the 19-year-old's progress.
The Hibs boss believes the likes of Kurtis Byrne and Sean Welsh can take a leaf out of Wotherspoon's book and copy the youngster's rise to potential stardom at Easter Road.
He said in the Scotsman: "David is quite a clever guy and a lot of that is down to his parents and the values they have made him aware of.
"He's easy to work with and anything he gets in life he will have worked for it as he's that type of lad. There have been times when he's been left out this season and he's probably felt that was hard on him.
"I suppose you could say we were testing him to see what he's made of but credit to him as he's taken it on the chin."
The boss added: "David knows he has a long way to go, but he has raised the bar and, in doing so, has set the standards the other members of last season's under-19 should be aiming to achieve.
"I would like to think that players like Kurtis Byrne and Sean Welsh, for example, are looking at David at the moment and saying, 'That's great, I also want a bit of it'."
