Hughes wants more from striker

Hibernian, 14:51, October 27, 2009 ,

Hibs boss John Hughes has admitted Anthony Stokes has yet to show his true form for the club, despite hitting four goals.

The Republic of Ireland striker capped a fine display against Rangers at the weekend.with a fabulous goal to increase his tally for the season.
Hughes says he has been pleased with the way the former Sunderland frontman has been playing in recent weeks but insists there is more to come from the 21-year-old.
"The goal Anthony Stokes scored at Ibrox certainly came into that category and there's no doubt at all that he's now starting to settle in," he said.
"I think Hibs fans have still to see the best of him but he's been working away to get his match fitness and the goal against Rangers will do him the world of good.
"He's the sort of talisman every manager likes to have in their team and, as I know from having worked with him before, he is certainly capable of scoring the kind of goal that has had plenty of people talking about him since Saturday."
