Toe news is good news

Hibernian, 13:31, July 3, 2009 ,

Hibs boss John Hughes was a relieved man after an x-ray on Derek Riordan's toe came back negative.

The star striker, who topped the club's scoring charts last season, hurt his foot while out running prior to meeting up with his team-mates for pre-season training.
He was sent for an x-ray to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong and, thankfully for player and club, all is well with the foot and the hit-man is set to resume training with the rest of the Hibs squad - much to the relief of Hughes.
"Derek had been doing a bit of work on his own but perhaps he's overdone it," he said. "He was in all last week getting treatment and we had his foot X-rayed as a precaution.
"It showed there wasn't a break which is great news. Derek is looking really lean, he should train with the rest of them today and our task is to get him right for the start of the action so we can get a really good season from start to finish from him."
