Brown may lose Turner prize

Hull City, 10:51, August 30, 2009 ,

Phil Brown has conceded Hull may have to listen to a "silly" offer for defender and Sunderland target Michael Turner.

Stadium of Light boss Steve Bruce has been touted for a pre-deadline swoop for Turner and Brown, speaking after his side claimed a 1-1 draw at Wolves on Saturday, admitted he was unsure whether or not his star defender would still be at the KC Stadium after Tuesday.
Title-chasers Liverpool have also been linked with the centre-back, while Brown revealed other unnamed clubs have also registered their interest.
Brown said: "Everyone seems to be wanting to talk about Michael Turner. Let's talk about him. He had an outstanding game. He has been tested by the two boys up front (Kevin Doyle and Andy Keogh) and stood up to the test.
"Is that his last game? I don't know. It might be. It might not be. When people start talking silly money, sometimes you have to listen.
"We are in the year of the silly money, the silly bids. The world has gone crazy, paying £25million for centre-halves, so maybe you have to listen."
Brown added: "As far as we are concerned, it is not only Sunderland. There are two or three clubs interested.
"The battle to hold on to Michael Turner will be ever-increasing for the next 48 hours. Whether Michael Turner is a Hull player at the end of the international break, remains to be seen.
"We have turned down bids already, in the last six weeks."
