Skipper lands new deal
Hull City, 10:00, November 11, 2009 ,
Hull have handed club skipper Ian Ashbee a new one-year contract extension that sees his present deal extended until the summer of 2011.
It is a big boost for the 33-year-old who is in the middle of his rehabilitation from extensive knee surgery and not expected to return to action until around March at the earliest.
The deal to hand the Tigers longest-serving player another 12 months was thought to have been negotiated by former chairman Paul Duffen before his recent departure.
There will be few that begrudge him his new deal and Phil Brown certainly won't after describing his absence as 'the biggest loss to the side this season'.
