Hull hope striker Alvaro Negredo will be at the KC stadium on Wednesday night to hold discussions about his proposed £12m move.
Reports in Spain suggest the deal could be in the balance and that the player would prefer to make the switch to La Liga side Real Zaragoza.
Hull boss Phil Brown remains confident they can still land their man and at the same time smash their transfer record.
"We're hoping that he'll be at the game tomorrow night," Brown told the Mail.
"I can't make a comment on speculation from Spain, we haven't heard anything.
"There will always be a concern until the deal is done but we're hopeful."
