Tigers chief hails 'outstanding' Spurs
Hull City, 09:54, August 20, 2009 ,
Phil Brown admitted there was a huge 'gulf' evident after his Hull City side were thrashed 5-1 against Tottenham at the KC Stadium.
The Tigers chief watched his men get played off the park as Jermain Defoe, with a hat-trick, Wilson Palacios and Robbie Keane grabbed the goals for the visitors on Wednesday evening, while new boy Stephen Hunt's 25th-minute free-kick earned him his second goal in as many games for Hull.
"We didn't apply ourselves from minute one or get close enough to Tottenham to keep ourselves in the game," said Brown.
"I thought there was a gulf between the two teams in terms of class, quality and the performance.
"Every player on the field of play for Tottenham was outstanding.
"That's one of the best performances I have seen in the Premier League."
