Tigers chief wary of Reds interest
Hull City, 10:39, August 10, 2009 ,
Phil Brown has admitted his fears that Liverpool will snap up Hull's influential defender Michael Turner during the transfer window.
The Tigers boss is well aware that Reds chief Rafa Benitez is scouring the market for a new stopper this summer following Sami Hyypia's exit and Turner appears to be one of his top targets. And Brown is worried that if Liverpool made a suitable offer there is not much Hull can do to keep him at the KC Stadium.
The only hope the Tigers have is that the two clubs are miles apart in their valuation of Turner and there is speculation that Benitez will switch his focus to Stoke's Ryan Shawcross.
"I have spoken to Rafa Benitez about Michael, but his assessment and valuation of the boy is well below ours," Brown said.
"I would dearly love to keep Michael here with us, but I know that is going to be difficult.
"When one of the top clubs in Europe come calling, a young man's head can be turned."
