Tigers close in on defender
Hull City, 10:42, August 25, 2009 ,
Hull look to be close to agreeing a deal to sign Sunderland defender Paul McShane following talks on Monday.
The 25-year-old right-back spent a four-month loan period at the club last season and the two sides look close to agreeing a deal to make the move permanent.
McShane held talks with Tigers boss Phil Brown on Monday and, assuming he passes his medical, Hull are expected to announce they have agreed a deal with Sunderland in the region of £2m for the player and will then unveil him before the end of the week.
The medical itself though may prove a problem as he is currently out of the Sunderland set up with a knee injury although he is expected to be fit enough to return to training next week.
Hull assistant boss Brian Horton admitted the club's interest in the player but would not confirm a deal is close, he told the Mail: "He's a name that's been mentioned, Macca was terrific with us when he was last here. He's one player we've looked at.
"We're still at it big style, we're working hard and I'm sure there'll be movement before the window closes."
