Tigers move on after striker snub

Hull City, 09:32, August 20, 2009 ,

Phil Brown has already moved on to his next transfer target after Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo snubbed a move to Hull City.

Tigers chairman Paul Duffen admitted that the highly-rated 24-year-old Spanish forward declined the chance of a potential £12million switch to the KC Stadium. And it now looks like Negredo will opt to stay in his homeland by joining Sevilla, while Real Zaragoza are also interested.
City boss Brown revealed his disappointment at the news but is now back to the drawing board in an effort to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes on September 1.
"The lad has decided to stay in Spain," said Brown. "We did everything we possibly could and I take my hat off to the chairman for the things he did in getting a world-class player to even talk to us.
"But that's dead now, it's on the wave behind and we'll try to get the next one.
"I'm very disappointed. There was a lot of effort and energy, not just from myself - for the last six weeks we were working hard at it."
Meanwhile, France-born Bosnian right-back Sanel Jahic is joining the club on trial.
"He is going to join us for a couple of days training and we'll have a look at him," Brown added.
