Turner price shock

Hull City, 14:36, November 3, 2009 ,

Hull's returning executive chairman Adam Pearson has revealed the club sold Michael Turner for just £4m with no add-ons.

At the time of the sale the fee remained undisclosed for the centre-half but both the then chairman Paul Duffen and boss Phil Brown were openly talking about him being worth around the £12m mark.
Both Charlton and Brentford have asked for the Premier League to look into the transfer believing they are owed more money in transfer sell on clauses but Pearson does not believe that is the case and at the same time has denied there was any financial need to sell the player.
He said: "Under no circumstances was it a financial necessity to sell Michael Turner.
"I can only second guess what people were thinking but there was probably a feeling the player wanted to go and that was the best possible deal available for him.
"It's not incremental, the total amount of cash we will receive for Michael Turner is £2.8m. Those are the facts."
