Barca supremo slams Madrid

International Football, 13:22, June 14, 2009 ,

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has launched a scathing attack on rivals Real Madrid over their mega-money transfer dealings.

Real have spalashed out nearly £140million on the captures of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo alone and reports suggest they're not done yet.
Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Valenica hotshot David Villa and Liverpool pair Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso have all been linked with transfers to the Bernabeu and Laporta has blasted the way Real have acted.
Comparing the way Barca and Real are run, Laporta said: "One is a model based on effort, talent and foresight, based on everything that is typical of a business project, and the other has a certain air of imperial arrogance and, moreover, has its origins in the market. "
Real president Florentino Perez has explained his business model as 'the most expensive things are the cheapest' because the more expensive players repay their huge fees with increased ticket sales, shirt sales and greater commercial contracts.
However, Laporta disagrees with Perez and feels that it is Barcelona who have the better business model.
He added: "I am very pleased to promote a model that for me is much more serious. It has been demonstrated that the business model based on effort, work and the skills and talents of people can also be successful."
