Capello confident despite tough draw
International Football, 14:21, February 7, 2010 ,
Fabio Capello says England have drawn a 'very tough' group for Euro 2012 qualification but is confident his side will do the business.
The draw in Warsaw pitted England in a five-team group against Wales, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Montenegro and punters looking to use their free bet may well wait to see how the Three Lions perform in the World Cup under new captain Rio Ferdinand before getting involved.
Capello feels that the draw could have been a lot of kinder for his side but believes his side will still make it through.
"All four opponents are really dangerous," he said. "Wales will be my first derby as manager of an international team. It will be interesting. They are really young but the value of the players is high.
"I prefer a smaller group because we have less games but the group is very tough.
"I have big confidence in my team and I am sure we will play a fantastic qualifying tournament for 2012."
There are 14 places available for the finals from the nine groups, with the winners and the best runner-up qualifying automatically, and the other eight runners-up going into two-legged play-offs.
