England handed favourable group for World Cup
International Football, 18:36, December 4, 2009 ,
England have been drawn in Group C for the 2010 World Cup alongside the USA, Slovenia and Algeria, starting on 12th June.
Fabio Capello's side were handed a reasonable group in Friday's draw in Cape Town, starting against the United States on Saturday the 12th June in Rustenburg at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
England then face Algeria, making their first appearance in the tournament in 1986, on Friday 18th in Cape Town before rounding off the group stage against Slovenia, who they beat 2-1 in a friendly in September, on the 23rd June in Port Elizabeth.
The draw also meant that England will avoid facing the likes of Argentina, Italy and Spain until the latter stages of the competition.
However, England could face a tough game if they reach the second round as they will face either Germany, Australia, Serbia or Ghana in the knock out stages.
