Germany coach Joachim Low says he is proud of his side's progress despite their disappointing elimination from Euro 2012 agaist Italy.

Die Mannschaft went into Thursday's match in Warsaw as heavy favourites but went down 2-1 to the Azzurri thanks to a first-half brace from Mario Balotelli. The surprise exit has led to calls for Low to resign after six years in charge, with many arguing that a change of manager is needed for Germany to take the next step. However, the 52-year-old maintains he is the right man for the job and believes his team have plenty of positives to take from the competition. "Basically, we have had two very good years," he told ARD. "The team has made excellent progress. We lost once again to a strong Italian team. There is no reason to doubt anything. "We are very disappointed, but we should not make the mistake of questioning everything. The team played a great tournament."
