Miller positive ahead of crunch clash
International Football, 13:27, September 3, 2009 ,
Kenny Miller has told his Scotland teammates to not even contemplate the idea of losing to Macedonia on Saturday.
George Burley's men still have hopes of making the World Cup play-offs but face two massive games over the next week, and two victories would guarantee Scotland second place in Group 9.
Both games are at home for Scotland with the final match against runaway group winners Holland next Wednesday, but punters looking to use their free bet will have noted that Miller's focus is firmly set on the crunch clash against Macedonia this weekend.
Macedonia, level on points with Scotland in the group, beat Burley's side in the opening fixture of the campaign, but Miller insists that Scotland have the better team and says that there is no reason why they should not win.
"If we don't win on Saturday then we can kiss any hope we have goodbye," the 29-year-old told the Daily Record.
"We have to win it and there's no way we can go into it thinking about losing. Let's take care of this one first then Wednesday's game against Holland will take care of itself.
"There is no reason why we can't beat Macedonia. We have a better team than them, we are at home with our fans behind us and we have to go on and win it."
Scotland will definitely be without Gary Caldwell of course, after the defender was sent off in last month's 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Norway.
