Montpellier president Louis Nicollin is confident that striker Olivier Giroud will stay at the club beyond the summer.

The forward has been the subject of interest from a number of Europe's top sides after a breakout season in Ligue 1 which has seen him score 19 goals as La Paillade have upset the odds to lead the league going into the final few fixtures. His form has reportedly attracted the likes of Bayern Munich and Arsenal, who are both thought to be preparing to make summer bids for the player. However, Nicollin believes that with the prospect of Champions League football at the Stade de la Mosson next season, his star man will elect to stay at the club. Furthermore, the outspoken owner says that the best way for the player to continue his development would be to continue his career with the Mediterranean side. "He's a clever guy. One more season at Montpellier, especially in the Champions League, won't stop him from earning more money in the future," the president told RMC. "It's possible he'll stay. He has a good attitude - really remarkable."
