Barcelona's veteran defender Carlos Puyol was expected to undergo more tests on a fractured cheekbone on Monday.
The 34-year-old Camp Nou stalwart sustained the injury in a late collision with Osasuna forward Roland Lamah in Barcelona's 2-1 win at the weekend. A club statement read: "Medical tests confirmed that Carles Puyol has fractured his right cheekbone. "The player will undergo further tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. Puyol broke his cheekbone when he collided with Lamah in one of the last plays of the match." The news means the Spain international is likely to miss the Supercopa second-leg tie against bitter rivals and La Liga champions Real Madrid on Wednesday. The defender sent a Twitter message, which read: "Many thanks for your messages. I'm fine and I'm sure I'll get back on the attack soon. Hugs. Good night."
