Rio to miss Wales date
International Football, 12:05, March 13, 2011
John Terry could be handed the captain's armband for England's Euro 2012 qualifier in Wales as Rio Ferdinand is set to miss the game.
Three Lions coach Fabio Capello has been hit with a double whammy on the injury front as Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard had been ruled out of the game at the Millennium Stadium on March 26 having undergone surgery on his groin.
And, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has now revealed that he does not expect Ferdinand to return from the calf injury, which has sidelined him since the start of last month, for the game.
Ferguson said: "Rio has been doing a bit of running. He will be ready for the game after the internationals.
"I wouldn't have thought he would have a chance before that. I don't think it would be wise for him to be called up by England. He hasn't played for us since January."
Therefore, with no captain or vice-captain at his disposal, Capello could hand Chelsea defender Terry the captaincy for the game against the Welsh.
Terry was stripped of the captaincy in February 2010 following allegations about his private life.
