Butcher seeks last day survival
Inverness Caledonian Thistle, 14:11, May 18, 2009 ,
Terry Butcher feels the fixture schedule has been tough on Inverness but has told his players that their fate is in their 'own hands'.
A draw against Kilmarnock would have been enough to secure their place in the SPL next season but a goal 11 minutes from time from Kevin Kyle means that Inverness face a last-day showdown with Kilmarnock.
Butcher admits that fatigue played a part in the defeat at Rugby Park but remains confident going into the home clash with the Bairns, knowing that a point will be good enough for survival.
The Caley Thistle boss said: "The players put in another great shift but it just wasn't to be. You're asking the same players to play three games within a week.
"The one fixture that matters now is the one at home next week. So we've still got an opportunity."
Butcher added: "It's still in our own hands and if we avoid defeat next week against Falkirk then we stay up. The equation is very simple."
