Deepdale trip too soon for Town pair
Ipswich Town, 16:20, January 29, 2010 ,
Skipper Jon Walters and new goalkeeper Brian Murphy are definitely out of Ipswich's trip to face Preston at Deepdale on Saturday.
Walters is set to be sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring injury, while Murphy is still a week away from a return after injuring his ankle in the warm-up at Leicester recently.
As a result Town boss Roy Keane is not likely to make too many changes from the side that was denied a victory against high-flying West Brom by a stoppage time equaliser in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Portman Road.
Arran Lee-Barrett is set to remain in goal with Liam Rosenior at right-back and Damien Delaney and Gareth McAuley at the heart of the defence. David Wright should return at left-back, despite being replaced by Pim Balkestein against the Baggies in midweek.
Jon Stead and Pablo Counago are set to be picked to spearhead the Ipswich attack, despite Tamas Priskin's impressive performance from the bench against Albion and the fact it is the last game of Stern John's loan spell from Crystal Palace.
Ahead of the match, Keane said: "I think we did a lot better the other night. Obviously we still only drew the game but in terms of the effort, the desire and the spirit of the players it was fantastic.
"We have to continue that. I think that with the players we have, and also myself, we have to be at it 100%, 95% won't do us and I think that was where we were last weekend.
"I think I'm very lucky with the group of players I have. I thought they were outstanding, absolutely brilliant the other night and on another day we might have won it, but hopefully we'll do that tomorrow."
