Norris may need surgery

Ipswich Town, 14:35, August 12, 2009 ,

Ipswich midfielder David Norris could be out of action for the rest of the year after a scan revealed he could need a knee operation.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury on Sunday's 2-1 opening-day defeat at Coventry and was sent for an initial scan to assess the extent of the damage.
Norris, who joined Ipswich from Plymouth in January 2008, will now visit a specialist but the indications are that he will need to go under the knife and may not be able to play again until 2010.
The news may tempt Town boss Roy Keane to look for a replacement in the transfer market in the next few weeks.
